Traditional Ingredients Used in Ayurvedic Pain Relief Products

Many Ayurvedic pain relief products rely on traditional herbal ingredients with long histories of use in topical preparations. Rumarub Ointment and Liniment share a foundation of classical Ayurvedic oils and aromatic ingredients. Exact formulations are proprietary.

The Rumarub Ayurvedic pain relief products share a foundation of three classical Ayurvedic medicinal oils — Dhanwantharam Thailam, Shacaharadhi Thailam, and Prabanjanam Thailam — each with a long history in Ayurvedic preparations for musculoskeletal comfort. These are blended with Camphor and Menthol, which produce the characteristic cooling and warming sensations on application, Lemongrass oil for its aromatic properties, and Wintergreen Oil (Gandhapura Taila / Methyl Salicylate) for its warming rubefacient character. Rumarub Roll-On contains Menthol, Camphor, Eucalyptus Oil, and Wintergreen oil — the confirmed formulation for the headache preparation.

Ingredient note

Individuals with known sensitivities to salicylates (Wintergreen / Methyl Salicylate), camphor, lemongrass, or essential oils should perform a patch test before first use. If on anticoagulant medication, inform your physician — Rumarub Ointment and Liniment contain Methyl Salicylate, a salicylate compound.

How to Apply the Rumarub Products

Application method varies by product. The Ointment and Liniment are designed as embrocations — the massage is part of the method. The Roll-On is applied directly without rubbing.

Ointment & Liniment — Embrocation Method

Clean and dry the area
Remove any other topical preparation. Skin should be clean and dry before application.
Take a small amount
A pea-sized amount for one joint area. More does not improve the experience.
Massage for 2–3 minutes
Circular motions using fingertips. Warmth should develop as you massage. Do not rush this step.
Allow to absorb — wash hands
Both are non-greasy and non-staining. Wash hands after. Avoid eyes and broken skin.

Roll-On — Direct Application

Apply to the temples
Roll directly onto each temple in slow circular motions. Cooling sensation follows within seconds.
Apply across the forehead if needed
Roll gently across the brow from temple to temple. Keep away from the eye area.
Apply to the back of the neck
For neck tension headache — roll across the base of the skull and upper neck.
Allow to absorb — no rubbing required
The Roll-On does not need to be rubbed in. Allow to absorb naturally.

General precautions

For external use only. Do not apply on broken skin or open wounds. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands after application. Do not use on children under 3 years without physician advice. Discontinue if rash or irritation develops beyond the expected warming or cooling sensation. Consult a physician if symptoms persist or worsen.
